I’m a long-time builder and life-long maker, and I love the quality and strength of traditional tools. So much so, I still use some of my dad’s decades-old tools – made of hardy brass and sturdy wood – to bring my ideas to life.
I reckon that those old-school tools had something today’s rules are missing; quality and thoughtfulness. I thought tools should be made by the makers that use them, and that something had got lost along the way.
So I put pen to paper.
And with the help of a talented team, brought it back to the good old days with The Good Rule.

The Good Rule journey took four long years of R&D, testing, and manufacturing – and brought together a team of talented makers along the way. Like an industrial designer with decades of experience, and an up-and-comer with a truly modern skill-set. A graphic designer who, funnily enough, kept a sculpture made from old rulers above her desk. And a tool-making manufacturer who knows what quality tradies look for in a tool.
Calibre, cleverness, and a whole lot of creative thinking later, and we got The Good Rule.
